Leap Motion


The Leap Motion is a new piece of hardware that is set to be released in may this year for use with personal computers that works in a similar fashion to that of the Microsoft Kinect except in a smaller, more detailed area.

The Leap Motion consists of two cameras and three infrared LEDs which track the users hands, fingers and other small objects placed into the area above it. The Leap motion can track these objects, such as pencils, accurately up to a precision of 0.01mm.

The idea behind this technology is to allow the user to interact naturally with programs on their computer, such as modelling programs as a good example, instead of having to rely on a keyboard and mouse.
