Mozilla Teams Up With Epic Games To Bring The Unreal Engine To The Web

Mozilla has recently announced that they have teamed up with Epic Games to bring one of the best video game development engines to the web. This integration is being achieved through the use of a highly optimised version of Javascript which allows for the Unreal Engine to be ported for the web.

Mozilla on their official blog stated:

Mozilla, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting openness, innovation and opportunity on the Web, is advancing the Web as the platform for high-end game development. With Mozilla’s latest innovations in JavaScript, game developers and publishers can now take advantage of fast performance that rivals native while leveraging scale of the Web, without the additional costs associated with third-party plugins.

This is a big step in the right direction not only for online web based gaming, but also for that of mobile web based gaming which has been something of a definite no-go in the past for higher-end development.
